Satellite solutions set to bolster Agritech industry

Australian agricultural industry embraces technology for growth

The Australian Agritech Association (AusAgritech) has partnered with leading remote communication solutions provider, Pivotel, to expedite the deployment of technology into Australia’s agricultural sector.

AusAgritech is an esteemed group of start-ups, scaleups and sector leading businesses from around the country, who have united to develop a strong and vibrant local Agritech ecosystem.

The partnership will see Pivotel leverage its experience and critical communication capabilities to support Agritech organisations in bringing technology to farmers in rural and remote Australia, which will not only benefit the local agriculture industry but also create opportunities for the export of Australian developed solutions around the world.

Pivotel CEO Peter Bolger said Pivotel’s experience in the farming and agriculture markets made the partnership with AusAgritech a natural fit.

“We’re well-versed in solving communication and technology challenges for regional and remote Australia, and proud to partner with AusAgritech to amplify that work,” Mr Bolger said.

“Pivotel are passionate supporters of the Agritech industry. We provide a myriad of coverage and connectivity options to users across Australia and beyond, and the development of innovative and effective solutions will bring wide-spread benefits to Australian farmers.”

“We are incredibly keen to see technology embraced for the betterment of the industry. Connectivity has an integral part to play in driving efficiency, which in turn bolsters productivity and will be the catalyst in seeing AusAgritech reach their goal of creating a $100+ billion a year industry.”

Pivotel understands the needs of Australia’s agricultural sector having worked alongside numerous farming and agtech organisations in the past, such as Farmbot and Ceres Tag.

Utilising Pivotel’s satellite Internet of Things (IoT) technology, Farmbot is able to provide water monitoring data and insights for farmers in the most remote locations of Australia, while Ceres Tag is using the technology to track and monitor cattle, and is working to extend that capability to other animals.

AusAgritech Founding Director Andrew Coppin said the partnership with Pivotel was crucial to fast-track progress in the sector.

“Australia has the potential to be a world leader in the Agritech sector and serves as the ideal location for the development of solutions due to its harsh conditions, weather events and large areas of landmass with no coverage or connectivity. Collaboration is the key for ensuring Australia’s agricultural industry continues to grow, creating more job opportunities for regional Australians, and driving revenue for the economy, Andrew said.
